What are y’all’s thoughts on this? I could see why this would make a lot of people mad but at the same time I understand what he’s saying.

Nah. This isn’t the way to handle it bro. He sounds like a complete dick to me.

I respect warranties and would never demand a knife maker to fix my knife_swap for free. I am happy to pay for the work. But this sounds like he has a resourcing problem. Maybe it’s time to hire some help, instead of calling your customers “fucking retarded” with “finger fucking assholes” or whatever.

And what’s the bit about being insulted by candy? Dude needs to chill.

This sucks because I was actually looking at SPK for a while. But probably won’t now.

I kinda agree. Warranty in my view should be fixing any issues with the knife as received from the maker. If it’s the Xth owner, who knows what has happened to the knife in that time so it’s not really the maker’s responsibility to fix it, especially for free.

I also think “spa service” for knives is silly, but that’s a different sort of issue.

He’s not wrong but that’s not a good example of maintaining your professionalism. People send stuff in all the time knowing they fucked it just trying to see if it gets covered. I personally would expect to pay for parts and shipping and work, but if I got it back without a bill I’d sing praises about the customer service to anyone who would listen. That word of mouth is why some shops will do the warranty service outside the window of their agreement.
