I purchased my first (and last) Strider in October at the Fall CCKS. I was a bit taken aback when he handed it to me in a used plastic baggie. I asked for a pouch, and they all laughed. I emailed them afterward asking for a COA—my first three emails went unanswered, and the fourth reply simply said they don’t provide COAs because they can be easily faked. I love the knife but hate the company. So it will be one and done.

Thats just what you get with Strider and Hinderer is the same way. Oh and if the bag upsets you the customer service is really gonna hit a nerve lol not their strong points not at all

Knife porn ? That pocket knife needs some pants just kidding

  5. Otherwise-Focus-6682

Haha! I just picked her up a few hours ago 😂

  6. I want one regardless of what it comes in or COA or the stolen valor etc., all I know as a non veteran is that veterans use/speak highly of the knife and even write them into their books so they must be doing something right! But really I just love the look and want to own one, sure would be nice to get a cool pouch but also I don’t care and hardly use those any ways. I dig it and that is one of my favorite make ups aside from the compound grinds!

Those plastic bags are multi-use. Steal of a deal, right?

    😉

The only packaging I ever got that impressed me was from Custom Knife Factory. Soft case. Stickers. Cleaning cloth. All that stuff.

  9. Free_Vacation_4188

Btw, regardless of the horrific company – that is still a sick knife. Congrats.

  10. SloCalLocal

Mickey Burger / “Mick Strider” is a sociopath and a liar.

    Nice knife though, enjoy it!

You can buy a taco pouch for $5. I get it, for the $ you should get a better packaging than a plastic bag. But he started off with military issued and I assume that’s how the did it and kept it. I’d be more worried about lock stick and lock rock. Don’t wear out your welcome with them over a pouch because you may need it sent in and repaired, which I have heard they do fix no questions asked.( with the know issues , stated above) killer knife , enjoy it and USE it, striders def look better torn. IMO

That is a beautiful knife. For the cost is it something that will get use or just be a collectable? Not sure I could bring myself to drop that much coin for a knife. Maybe they appreciate in value?

    I bought a wb mod 10GG about 15 years ago….it came wrapped in newspaper. I didn’t care, it’s a sick knife.

  14. BeefyPorkter

Strider is known for being a shitty company

  15. I bought my first and last Strider in 2004ish.

It was terrible (too thick behind the edge, not ergonomic, pretty useless tbh.

It’s pretty telling when the $25 cold steel gi tanto outperforms it.)

Then I found out about the stolen valor bit, that was it.

From AI, too lazy to type it all out:

TLDR: we shouldn’t be buying from that guy.

“Mick Strider, whose real name is Mickey Ray Burger, has been widely accused of stolen valor, a claim substantiated by court records and public documentation. He was discharged from the U.S. Army as a Private (E1) after going AWOL during basic training and was never deployed as a U.S. Army Ranger, never served in or participated with SOCOM (Special Operations Command), and never had any combat experience with any branch of the U.S. Military or U.S. Government Agencies, nor has he participated in any “Black Ops”. These facts were formally acknowledged in a court case where Strider was sued for libel and defamation by members of the Tactical Action Group (TAG), a veterans’ organization. As part of the settlement, Strider was required to cease representing himself as a combat veteran and to correct any false claims made on his company’s website and by its partners.
The controversy intensified when it was revealed that Burger had a criminal history, including armed carjacking and a five-year prison sentence, which led to his name change and the founding of Strider Knives under a false military identity. He was also accused of fabricating his military service to market his knives, including claims of being a special forces operator and having combat experience in Somalia, which were proven false. Despite these revelations, Strider Knives continues to operate, and the company has been involved in partnerships with other brands, such as Noveske Rifleworks, although the legitimacy of such collaborations has been questioned by critics.
While some individuals defend Strider based on his charitable actions toward military personnel, such as returning knives to their original military recipients and donating free knives, others argue that these actions do not excuse the deception surrounding his military background. The debate remains polarized, with some viewing him as a fraud who exploited military service for profit, while others believe his contributions to the military community mitigate the controversy.
AI-generated answer. Please verify critical facts.”

  16. What ive learned about strider is that they have nothing to do with looking pretty. It’s all about functionality. From the packaging, to not offering spa, to not having a steel lockbar insert so there is no lock failure. They don’t care as long as your knife is in working order.

They stand behind it being a tool, not pretty. Unless it’s a MSC ofc

  17. Everydaycommentary

I would much rather get the plastic bag than pay for packaging. This is one of the reasons I LOVE Striders. That and the ergos.

  18. Efficient-Ask1725

How much was this one? I’ve seen these going for over 1k

  19. Absoluterock2

    Awwww,

All your money went into the product instead of your “unboxing experience”.

  20. Not only just a baggie, but you get the best of lock stick, lock rock, detent lash, a dash of stolen valor on top of an un-centered blade and the maker is a total douche on the level of Medford, and they are ugly AF to boot. What’s not to like? 👍

  21. litteringdisliker

You don’t need a pouch brotherrr this KNAF is made for HARD USE TACTICAL SELF DEFENSE BATONNING MILITARY SPEC USE YOUR SHIT REAL MEN ONLY!!!!! The bad centering doesn’t impact cutting performance and lock stick actually makes the lock more secure so really it’s a good thing!
