I have a Kinetic Labs switch container (from my mechanical keyboard ~~hobby~~ problem) and have been using it for battery storage. Are there any risks here? Just wondering if I’m playing with fire here, both figuratively and literally.

Don’t shake it or drop it and you should be maybe ok. Maybe.
Get a proper case, please.

Not really, the batteries shouldn’t be touching each other. It will probably be fine as long as the insulators are in good condition.

While we’re on the topic, does anyone have a good recommendation for battery holders? I don’t have a million lights and batteries like many of yall. Just a handful of various sizes tops.

No, please get a case or multiple cases where none of the terminals are alloewed to touch anything else.

It might be fine, but considering how hazardous battery fires can be I would just not risk it. Get proper storage. I store all my batteries in those individual size adjustable containers and then put them in a plastic box. There’s no way for them to ever touch as there’s two plastic walls between any two batteries.
Your current arrangement allows for movement, which can potentially cause abrasions if any wraps are nicked, etc., and allows batteries to touch each other.

You want a case that a) physically separates each battery from each of the others, and b) holds them securely and prevents any movement. Like [this](https://www.amazon.com/Baimeixun-Lithium-Battery-Plastic-Bracket/dp/B07BN7K8CX/) (not vouching for this particular product, just wanted to give you a visual).
