I’ve been known to comment about how I dislike aspects of my Arkfield Pro, but it remains my EDC due to its sum usefulness.
Just got 2 of these AE white+UV365+laser lights out of curiosity and because I don’t have funds atm to buy any of the pricier multifunction competitors.
There’s a few things the cheapo light does well. At 1/10th the Arkfield Pro’s normal price, if it doesn’t fail during longer testing, it could be a good cheap alternative.
Pics show comparisons, but I’ll note the pros and cons, too.
Laser: red, seems at least as strong as the AF Pro’s green. May have been an option on AE to choose a green variant. Can be used simultaneously with the white throwy light, appearing in center of hotspot.
UV: at least same as AF Pro. No ZWB2. Emits from other end of the light than white/laser, so felt it heating my hand, unaware I had it on at first.
White light: allows hold for pretty smooth ramping. Cooler and narrower than AF Pro, but has a very floody COB side light.
Magnet: a bit weaker than the AF Pro, but sticks vertically, so should hold as well.
Clip: I’m not really a clip guy, but seems flimsier than the AF Pro and not easily removable. With the right angle COB, I could see a use for it, though.
Dimensions: awkward length, similar to the common 18650 lasers. Whilst skinnier than the AF Pro’s width, the tube is a bit wider than AF Pro’s skinny aspect.
Other: UI is fine, easy to figure out. Having different beams emit from opposite ends of the light is a pretty bad UX, IMO. Not knowing which is the business end of a UV light or laser is a bit dodgy!
Conclusion: cheap alternative to the Arkfield Pro, suitable for people cautious enough not to shine the sometimes dangerous end in their eyes and who are used to having long things in their trousers.
