I was looking to purchase a high powered flashlight in case of emergencies, and I came here and clicked the pinned post of the “Arbitrary List of Popular Lights” from Zak Reviews. I was very impressed with the thoroughness of the document!
But I was confused when I got to one bit early on. Under the header “Quick List” it said…
>If you’re not interested in ***flashlights as a hobby***, you should probably just get one of these
And I’m just confused… what exactly does “flashlights as a hobby” entail? Do you like, go to your yard and line up all the flashlights to compare how bright they get? Are their coordinated late-night flashlight aided dance routines you do? Is it for shadow puppetry? Do you pretend to do [kamehameha](https://media3.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExc2hyc2Q5NHdnaTA0MDhvOWt6Z3J0eHJhNmE4OWwwdGxvM2o0Z2h5diZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/oTjoawKEq3wYD5fKEh/giphy.webp)?
And understand, I’m not trying to make fun. I’m genuinely curious if I’m stumbled upon a new possible hobby, or if I should just buy the cheapest one on the list (the Wurkkos FC11C) and move on with my life.
What does “flashlights as a hobby” mean to you? And what would you recommend for a person like me, who lives in a city and just wants one for emergencies… but is possibly “hobby-curious”?
Thanks for any help you can give!

Just pick one from the list and move on. Never come back. If you come back you can never leave but it’s quite nice and friendly here
