Just got this little Fenix PD25R, such a nice pocket lite! And over 800 lumens available from it. I read another post recently that said that the largest D-cell Maglites back in the day had a max of only about 150 lumens. Mind-blowing.

Speaking of back in the day, in the ’80s I was a VERY avid hunter and spent many hundreds of hours in the woods. I would often go out in early morning, in the pitch dark, and I’d often leave my stand after dark as well. Do you know what light I carried? The OG mini-Maglite with two AA cells! (the NON-LED version) Probably had all of 5-10 lumens. And I used it EVERYWHERE I went, deep in the woods, in bear country. It was the only light I ever carried. And it worked for me! That thing was lightweight, reliable, and just did the job. But to compare it to the lights available now?? Wow, how times and tech have changed!I
