Hello everyone, my buddy is getting married and he is being deployed in the military shortly afterwards. The wedding has no gift registry. They basically told people they can gift what they want, but would appreciate cash. In addition to cash I wanted to get my buddy a nice dependable American made knife. I chose this particular KaBar, because it doesn’t have the infamous rat-tail tang. However, now I am wondering if I’ve made a mistake. Is it normal for soldiers to bring their own combat/utility knives? Did I make a mistake?

I think this is a great pick for the circumstance. It’s very normal to have your own knife. Thoughtful gift. I bet he’ll love it. The becker line is the best thing that Ka-Bar makes.
