This is on my shortlist of Reate’s best work. Due credit to Chaves for the striking design language – including the divisive clip, which I would swap out if it weren’t so well crafted – but the execution is par excellence. The tolerances and blade action are in a league of their own.
There’s a ‘je ne sais quoi’ to the 229 in hand. If you have the opportunity to pick one up, do so!
