Trying to help my girlfriend track down her family history. This belonged to her grandfather in ww2, apparently issued to him according to her dad by “the ghurkas” (who is a bit of an idiot and never cared about family history). Obviously it’s not a Kukri and Google says it’s an American made knife. Her grandad was English and in the British army we think. I was wondering if anyone could help me track down what the exact knife pattern is or if it was issued to any British regiments or if he just traded\boughg\won it at cards\looted it off a body from an American soldier?
The blade has 00 and a half worn away mark that looks like it says Harvford on it (can’t get a good picture as it’s very feint).
Trying to find out family history as a priority.
But also it’d be nice to find out if it’s worth selling to a collector who will value it or if it’s worthless I might grind out the notches and rolls, put a new edge on it, rehandle it and use it for gardening instead as it seems pretty well made compared to modern machetes I’ve owned.
