I bought this Buck 119 brand new in 2020. I’ve used it for a few months then forgot about it when I had to move. It has been sitting in a drawer since then. It was kept in its original sheath. The blade seems to be rusty. I think it’s carbon steel. The blade says ‘BOS 5160’ with a small fire logo etched next to it. How can I safely remove oxidation from the blade and from the handle to make the knife good again?
Thanks in advance. Sorry for the broken English.

Restored? Just needs cleaning. It’s a 5160 Buck 119, hard to find. And yes, 5160 is a carbon steel (thus the rust, which is why many people prefer stainless alloys).

  2. You can send it into Buck Knives warranty and they will clean it up for you

  3. Take a pencil, scratch off the runt spots, oil, and use.
